Vicky Davies is a Costs Lawyer at Your Legal Costs, where she oversees Multi-Track and Fast-Track drafting – particularly bills and budgets. Since stepping into her leadership role in June 2022, Vicky’s main focus has been the day-to-day management and development of the drafting team, including file allocation and reporting to senior management. She still enjoys getting hands-on with drafting when needed, ensuring her technical skills remain sharp.

Vicky’s journey into legal costs began unexpectedly in 2001 after graduating from Liverpool John Moores University with a Law Degree. Responding to a newspaper advertisement for “Law Graduates” led her into the admin department of a costs firm, where she began building her expertise – from drafting schedules and bills to handling complex Multi-Track matters. Along the way, she completed her LPC at Chester Law College, qualified with the ALCD in 2007, and became a Costs Lawyer in 2011. Fun fact: her very first job was at Dolcis, a shoe shop, where she worked briefly while at college and university.

One of Vicky’s favourite aspects of her role is the supportive and friendly team environment, which she finds makes even the busiest days enjoyable. She particularly enjoys allocating files, as it brings a sense of progress and helps maintain control of the workload. Equally rewarding for her is developing team members and helping them reach their potential. Her colleagues describe her as approachable, helpful, and a little ditsy – qualities that contribute to her warm and personable leadership style.

Outside of work, Vicky spends much of her time watching her son’s football matches, enjoying bike rides with her children, and indulging in TV series marathons with her daughter – Gilmore Girls being the latest favourite. She loves family time, cocktails, spa days, and good food – ideally enjoyed in the sunshine. And for a bit of fun, Vicky admits to having an uncanny knack for getting lost, even with a sat-nav, and a quirky hidden talent: she can wobble her eyeballs, a trick that never fails to amuse her friends.
